Dear Heritage Fellowship,

As Chairman of the Building Committee, I am excited to serve and look forward to the task of building the Lord’s Kingdom.

We have come to an exciting time with the building program here at Heritage Fellowship and “We’ve Come This Far by Faith”. As is it written in the book of Matthew (17:20), If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. We can also find resemblance to this passage in Luke (17:5-6), “And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you”.

When looking at the context of these verses the term “mustard seed” stands out, especially when you consider the physical size of that seed. Mustard seeds are about one-sixteenth of an inch in diameter, or one-third the size of a poppy seed. The Lord could have chosen anything imaginable to use as a comparison, such as an apple seed or fig seed, which are much bigger in comparison. I believe that he chose the mustard seed as a challenge to those around him at that time and to us now, that if we trust in him with the miniscule amount of faith that all things are and will be possible!

This building project has continued to be a true faith-walk in which the Lord’s hand has led us. “Because of our Faith” our building will be completed as a continuous project, “start to finish”. Our new edifice has a 73,000 square foot footprint that includes an 844-seat sanctuary, prayer/wedding chapel, fellowship hall, and education wing that is slated to be completed in an estimated 18-24 months.

In “Our Walk by Faith” the Building Committee has completed all of the necessary requirements and permits needed to begin construction on the new edifice following the consecration of the property. Through all of the potential obstacles, that we (Heritage) could have faced, God saw fit to continuously bless us throughout this entire process and “moved those mountains out of our way”.

As we reverence in the blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us, I challenge all of us to have a continuous “Trust in Faith” that we (Heritage) will raise $2 million dollars through “our giving” to the building project. In the book of Malachi (3:10) the Lord says, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”.

Heritage, the Lord has continued to show us what he can do through “Faith and Prayer”. Though we are pressing toward the mark to construct a physical building, the importance as Pastor Tate has reiterated, is the “Building of His Spiritual Kingdom” and to introduce Him, to those that don’t know Him as their personal Savior. “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:19-22).

I ask that you continue to pray for the building project, the vision that was given to Pastor Tate. Also remember the Building Committee members as we continue our journey to doing the Lord’s work.

Yours in Christ,

Michael D. Mitchell
HFC Building Committee-Chairman
