Please be prepared to talk about the following when you meet with a member of the HIRE Ministry:

  • Do you have a resume? If not, do you need help creating one?
    • In what type of job do you see yourself—what industry, job type or title, geographic location, full time vs. part-time, etc. ? Will you need job training?
    • What have you done in your job search so far? Have you attended any job fairs or applied for jobs on-line? Have you contacted companies directly? Have you talked with people about your search? Have you had any interviews?
    • How is your search going? Have you followed up with your job leads? How can HIRE help?

The HIRE Ministry will use this information to decide next steps (such as identifying people you should speak with for assistance with your resume, interview practice, etc.)

       ********************

Networking is emphasized in HIRE. Let us know if you’re interested in a particular organization in case there are Heritage members working there who might be able to give you information and advice.

Always have 10 copies of your resume with you to give to people you meet, as appropriate. Most people are good sources of information but not jobs; get their business cards and schedule no-strings-attached informational meetings with them. Send follow-up notes to stay in touch with them and expand your network.
